A friend of mine is a passionate collector of fountain pens. In fact, I wrote a poem about it (still hoping to publish it). He recently showed me some of the amazing art produced with fountain pens. I love this skyline of Chicago by Andrew Banks Illustration. It really evokes the feel of early 20th century, modernist art.

Maybe I will try my hand at the turn of the 20th century Manhattan skyline with a fountain pen to craft alternative art for John Dos Passos’s novel Manhattan Transfer (1925). First, I’d need to get a whole lot better at handling fountain pens.
