Coming soon, my essay on Basil Poledouris’ score to Conan the Barbarian (1982). Some might consider it a silly movie, but I spend 2 years studying orchestral music while I was unemployed and I achieved something I’m proud of: I taught myself how to write about classical music. Basil was a genius with a great passion. And nobody who worked as hard as he did and put so much heart in their art should ever be dismissed. He certainly should never be forgotten by those that love film.
