Watched Robocop (1987) again after a long spell. Now it’s just a sad, sad film and sharp satire. I don’t react to the action the way I did when I was a kid. When I was a kid, my favorite scene was probably Robocop’s assault on the drug dealers in the factory, or Robo taking out Mr. Jones in the final showdown. Now, I think unquestionably the best scene in the film is Robo driving home and exploring his old house and old life. The scene is given poignancy by Peter Weller’s excellent movement and facial expressions as Robocop, and Basil Poledouris’ fantastic cue for “Home.” Basil excelled at delivering brute, despondent melodies.
